TUP Dive – 24 meters / 120 minutes

This week, in connection with a fish health research project, a planned TUP (Transfer Under Pressure) dive was successfully carried out in the hyperbaric chamber facilities at NUI AS, in close cooperation with the Diving Education program at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL Dykkerutdanningen). Divers Stian Mjelde and Kjartan Lerøen completed dives to a simulated depth of 24 meters, maintaining a total bottom time of 120 minutes.

The ascent phase involved transitioning between three chambers, where the divers followed a structured decompression profile. Scheduled decompression stops were performed, including oxygen breathing at depths equivalent to 9 and 6 meters. The entire procedure was conducted strictly in line with the current TUP tables, which operated as intended and ensured a safe, controlled decompression process.

The operation not only demonstrated the effectiveness of the tables in practice but also confirmed that they provide adequate safety margins. This makes them particularly well-suited for extended bottom times at moderate depths, supporting both diver safety and operational efficiency.
