Exploring the depths, testing at NUI
NUI AS has had the pleasure of welcoming REV Ocean to our facilities in Bergen for a few exciting days this October, testing the docking concept for DSV Aurelia.
DSV Aurelia is an advanced human-occupied submersible built to bring scientists directly into the underwater environment. With its transparent, pressure-resistant acrylic hull providing nearly 360-degree visibility, combined with sophisticated sampling equipment, 4K camera systems, powerful lighting and a robotic manipulator arm, it gives researchers an extraordinary platform for observing, documenting and understanding the ocean.
Having technology like this at our facility is something we genuinely appreciate. Seeing the submersible up close, and being able to provide facilities for testing its docking concept, has made for some fascinating days at NUI.
We are proud to contribute to the testing and development of technologies that expand our understanding of the ocean and support future marine research.
Thank you to the REV Ocean team for the visit and for bringing a truly impressive piece of ocean technology to NUI!
